OLD Electra, Texas Cemetery Headstone Photos on CD
There are four cemeteries all together on Hwy. 25 and Hwy. 287 in Electra TX. As you approach the cemeteries from the Highway, these listings are for the Old Electra Cemetery on the left side of the road. It is the first entrance that you come to on the left. In a section behind the Old Electra Cemetery is the Dick Sparks Cemetery. The Memorial Cemetery is next to the Old Cemetery and the NEW Electra Cemetery is directly across the street on the right side of the road.
This survey was taken starting at the first entrance you come to and to the left of that entrance, working my way from front to back, one section at a time and then ending at the back row on the other side of the road for the first section. Then I started on the section to the right of the gate, ending with the back section along the back fence.
According to Joyce Meeks of Electra, the Dick Sparks Cemetery is in an offset area directly behind the Old Electra Cemetery. It is an African American cemetery and there are untold unmarked graves there, unfortunately. The Waggoner Family donated the land when long time former employee, Dick Sparks, died and there is no charge for local black families to bury there. Dick Sparks grave is one of the unmarked and no one has been able to locate it. I have incorporated this portion of the cemetery into the entire survey of the Old Electra Cemetery. Unfortunately, there are many unmarked graves, or graves where only metal funeral home markers once were.
